Fort Wayne Pride Festival Cancelled-
After much consideration, looking at the increasing numbers from across the country, and the difficulty in stopping spread among large, closely gathered groups, the Fort Wayne Pride Board of Directors has decided it is in the best interest of our LGBTQ community and the greater Fort Wayne area to cancel Pride 2020. Our 23rd festival will be held July 23-24, 2021. Although we had hoped to postpone to September, there are too many uncertainties about the future. Because of all of the work required for the festival, we cannot extend our wait any longer. We understand how important Pride is for our community and have not taken this decision lightly. 2020 has brought quite a bit of challenges and changes in our lives. We hope that each of you are weathering this storm and have found support somewhere in your life.
Fort Wayne Pride will still work on producing smaller, safe events as we can. Our Giving Back Initiative will remain in place as we enter the next few months as well. Our website contains many local resources for our community for those who need it. Hopefully next year can be the greatest celebration yet! We urge you to continue following social distancing guidelines, be safe, and know that there is a community out there who cares about you even though we cannot gather for our festival. If you are able, try to find another community member who needs support, find out ways to support local organizations that work with our community, and be sure your voice is heard in November to ensure our rights. The Fort Wayne Pride Board of Directors extends our sincere gratitude for your continued support and Pride in our community!
